I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar

I absolutely adore the latest images from the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2011 campaign lensed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. Supermodels Kristen McMenamy, Natalia Vodianova and Naomi Campbell morph into ferocious felines as only a Super can do. Mert & Marcus capture the snarling trio perched atop some very luxe looking Givenchy floor cushions whilst embodying designer Riccardo Tisci's panther themed collection for Fall. McMenamy looks like a feline who has been disturbed from her peaceful slumber whilst Vodianova could possibly be watching protectively over her brood, as for Campbell well she  looks simply sublime as she prepares to devour her prey.

Untouched

Models from the past, present and future, team up with photographer Scott Trindle for an exhibition of portraits to mark the opening of Viva Model Management's London office. The exhibition currently showing at the Rochelle School of Art in London, features Viva's superstar models and budding hopefuls in a series of paired-back, black and white portraits. The exhibit entitled "Untouched" takes the audience up-close-and-personal with established names including Natalia Vodianova, Kristy Hume, Raquel Zimmerman, Edita Vilkevicuite, and relative newcomers, Codie Young, Jessica Clarke and Emily Baker, amongst others, in a series of untouched images. With minimal make-up and styling, the uniqueness and natural beauty of each model is magnified ten-fold.

In an interview with vogue.com, Trindle asserts that "It doesn't scare me that the images aren't retouched, it adds another layer of interest and intrigue... The fear that surrounds an untouched image is quite amazing - and again I'm no martyr. So much can be adapted in post, and so I suppose the main benefit is purity." Viva's director Natalie Hand adds that "His images stood out because it is just so interesting to see the girls like that: he shot them with no additional hair, make-up and styling. They were shot exactly as they were in person, exactly how they were when they walked through his door. And they looked really beautiful. The blemishes added to their charm. And you could definitely learn something about the model's real character from the pictures."

Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott capture the incandescent beauty of a diverse group of models including Daria Werbowry, Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Gisele Bundchen, Raquel Zimmerman and Joan Smalls. Each model's uniqueness and individual allure is showcased in a series of understated and elegant portraits. Styled by Tonne Goodman, the editorial features body conscious fashions in bold fire engine red and black set against a stark grey background. Seasoned veterans Werbowry, Zimmermann, Vodianova and Bundchen show why they are still at the top of their game after more than ten years in the game, whilst rising stars Stone and Smalls sparkle.

Fall/Winter 2011 New Faces Josephine Skriver

Danish newcomer Josephine Skriver has had a Fall/Winter 2011 season that can only be described as impeccable. Seventeen year old Skriver captured the attention of casting director Russell Marsh at the pre-show castings and consequently walked in only the most prestigious of shows  including Calvin Klein, Prada, Gucci, Preen, Carlos Miele, Phillip Lim, Ruffian, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sportmax, Etro and Just Cavalli. Represented by Marilyn Model Management in New York, Skriver stands at 177 cm in height and has cobalt blue eyes, flawless skin and a pillowy pout. Skriver is one of the most exciting modelling prospects that I have seen in recent times. Blessed with angelic features, Skriver has the kind of natural, healthy looks and glow that the industry has been yearning for. When I look at Skriver, I get the same feeling that I got when I first laid eyes on Natalia Vodianova, Karolina Kurkova and Liya Kebede. Mark my word, this girl is going to be Major!
